VARIXIO is an automated machine for sclerosant foam preparation. It provides standardisation of the foam sclerosant, the production of foam sclerosant at very low concentrations and it provides an extremely easy method of preparing foam with physiological gases.
I was privileged to interview the inventor of Varixio, Enric Roche.
Enric is a vascular surgeon who saw a need for a standardised way to prepare foam for sclerotherapy.
He began working on a device in 2007 and it took seven years to get to market. Varixio uses CO2 and O2 to create foam, which he believes is safer than other methods.
The device is now being manufactured by Dr. Roche's company and he is hopeful that it will be approved by the FDA.
In the interview, Enric discusses the challenges he faced in getting Varixio to market, including the need for funding and regulatory approval. He also talks about the benefits of Varixio, such as the fact that it creates a standardized foam and that it is easier to use than other methods.
Enric is currently working on a paper that will compare the results of Varixio with other methods of foam sclerotherapy.
Do you use Varixio?
