Dr Haroun Gajraj, Director of the Academy

From Consultant Surgeon to Mentor

If you are a doctor, nurse, or aesthetic practitioner looking to master the treatment of veins, you are in the right place.

My name is Haroun Gajraj. I am a specialist vascular surgeon with over 30 years of experience in treating venous disease. For more than a decade, I served as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon in the NHS, and for the last 15 years, I have run a successful private practice, The VeinCare Centre, in the South West of England.

Today, my mission has changed. I no longer treat patients myself. Instead, I have dedicated the rest of my career to a single goal: passing on my knowledge to you.

Through The VeinCare Academy, I help practitioners like you avoid the steep learning curve I faced. Whether you want to master the clinical skills of microsclerotherapy or understand the business strategies required to grow a thriving private practice, I am here to guide you.

My Clinical Training & Background

My journey began at King’s College Hospital Medical School, London, where I graduated with Honours. I was fortunate to undertake my vascular training at two of the UK's most prestigious teaching hospitals—St Thomas’ and St George’s in London.

During this time, I developed my special interest in venous disease under the mentorship of two giants in the field: Professor Sir Norman Browse and Professor Kevin Burnand. Under their supervision, I completed two years of basic science research, leading to a Master of Surgery degree from the University of London.

I didn't just learn the theory; I lived it. I spent 13 years as a Consultant Vascular Surgeon in the NHS, dealing with every conceivable vein complication, from cosmetic spider veins to complex leg ulcers. I am fully accredited as a vascular specialist with the General Medical Council (GMC).

A Leader in Phlebology

I have always believed that standards in vein care need to be higher. That is why I was a founding member of the British Association of Sclerotherapists (BAS), serving as its President until 2012 and remaining an active Board Member today.

My commitment to training the next generation of specialists is longstanding:

  • I have served as a Surgical Tutor for the Royal College of Surgeons of England.

  • I have been a Lecturer at the University of Bristol.

  • I have acted as a Specialist Adviser to NICE UK.

Why I Created The VeinCare Academy

When I left the NHS in 2008 to focus exclusively on phlebology, I learned the hard way that clinical excellence is only half the battle. I faced the same challenges many of you face: how to attract patients, how to manage a private clinic, and how to deliver consistent, safe results that keep patients coming back.

I created The VeinCare Academy to provide the resource I wish I had when I started.

I have distilled three decades of clinical precision and business experience into my hands-on courses and online resources. I don't just teach you "textbook" theory; I teach you the practical, real-world techniques that I have used to treat thousands of satisfied patients.

If you are ready to expand your skills, increase your clinic’s revenue, and deliver world-class results for your patients, I invite you to join me.

Let’s get started.
