Martin CLARIDGE

Premier Veins

Martin is a Vascular Surgeon from Birmingham. He trained exclusively in specialist vascular and endovascular surgery in Birmingham and Australia and has a doctorate in vascular research from Birmingham University.

Martin has a large practice in Birmingham and was Clinical Director at the regional vascular service, one of the pioneering units that developed sclerotherapy to treat varicose veins effectively, from 2015 to 2024. He lectures internationally and trains colleagues all over the world in keyhole treatments for varicose veins.

Martin is a knowledgeable and approachable expert in venous disease, offering his services at Premier Veins, the award-winning centre for keyhole varicose vein treatment.

Philip COLERIDGE SMITH

British Vein Institute

President of the BAS - an old phlebosaur!

One of the UK's leading vascular surgeons, Philip Coleridge Smith is an expert in the treatment of varicose veins and is acknowledged as an international authority in the management of venous disease using Ultrasound-Guided Sclerotherapy. 

Philip often lectures at University College London and has been editor of medical journals, 'Phlebology' and 'The European Journal of Vascular and Endovascular Surgery'.

Currently President of the British Association of Sclerotherapists (BAS) and a member of the 2019 Federation of Forensic Expert Witnesses and the IDF (Independent Doctors Federation), he is also listed in Top Doctors.

Huw DAVIES

University Hospital Wales

Huw completed his training in London and the West Midlands before taking up his consultant post in Wales.

He has a keen venous interest and has undertaken research in venous disease.

He has continued to develop ambulatory venous treatments in South East Wales since COVID and has established deep venous interventions in Wales

Kate ENGLAND

Microsclerotherapist for 20 years and works with Philip Coleridge Smith

Kate is a highly qualified and fully registered nurse who has over 30 years worth of experience in both the NHS and private sector. 

Kate is also a Specialist Nurse Practitioner in thread vein treatment and sclerotherapy.

  • He collaborates as a reviewer with numerous international scientific journals

  • Prof. Frullini has designed and patented some innovative treatments for venous insufficiency such as laser-assisted sclerotherapy (LAFOS) and venous cross-linking

  • In 1997, it was the first Italian center to use sclerosing foam. In 1999, Prof. Frullini was awarded the prestigious Platinum Award from the American College of Phlebology for introducing sclerosing foam in the USA.

Simon is clinical lead for vascular surgery in the Black Country.

He has a busy NHS arterial practice but is passionate about delivering high quality superficial venous care with a thriving private clinic in Wolverhampton.

Gaynor HUGHES

Aistheta Skin Clinic

Gaynor has been practising as a registered nurse for 40 years and began working in aesthetics in 2011.

She worked with Dr. Gajraj at the Vein Care Centre for 6 years and established her own aesthetic clinic in 2017.

She accomplished the V300 nurse independent prescriber qualification. In 2018 Gaynor joined the team at Cosmetic Courses teaching microsclerotherapy and expanding her teaching role to run the Vein Care Training.

She is a board member of the BAS and a regional leader for the South West for the British Association of Medical Aesthetic Nurses (BAMAN).

Gaynor is committed to exceptional standards of clinical practice and patient care as well as continuous professional development.

Emma KELLIHER

Meet Emma Kelliher – Founder

Emma started the clinis in 2014 and continues to have a hands-on role within the Clinic at both our Brackley and Witney locations. Emma qualified as a Registered General Nurse in 2001.

She began her aesthetic career on Harley Street over 14 years ago. Emma was the CQC (Care Quality Commission) registered Manager for one of the largest cosmetic non-surgical providers in the UK for 10 years of her career.

Education is something that Emma is passionate about. Emma is a well-known educator in the industry, she holds a post with Cosmetic Courses and teaches medical aesthetics to other medical professionals. She also continues to expand her own knowledge and expertise regularly working alongside other expert peers and continually investing in training.

Throughout her career Emma has worked closely with Allergan, developing her skills and knowledge with the MD Codes Programme for advanced practitioners. Emma’s vast knowledge of medical aesthetics, her many qualifications, and her excellent leadership means you are in the best hands at EK Clinic®.

Emma is a NMC Registrant and holds a V300 Prescribers Qualificatio . With over 20 years in the medical industry Emma ensures safety and quality in this ever-changing aesthetics industry.

Alastair LEWIS

Alastair LEWIS

Private Practitioner, Belfast and Dublin

Alastair is one of a small number of full-time varicose vein practitioners in the UK and Ireland and the only one working in Northern Ireland. He was appointed as a consultant vascular surgeon to the Southern Health and Social Care Trust in 2007 and played a central role establishing the regional varicose vein service in Northern Ireland.

He enjoys a national reputation as an authority in the management of all aspects of venous disease has been invited to speak on the expert management of varicose veins at the Royal Society of Medicine’s Venous Forum, The British Association of Sclerotherapists and Vascular Society of Great Britain and Ireland meetings on a regular basis in recent years. He has been a member of the board of The British Association of Sclerotherapists since 2021. He holds the prestigious Diploma in Venous Disease from the European Society of Phlebology.

He offers keyhole treatments for thread veins, varicose veins and complications of chronic venous insufficiency. Treatments offered include Endovenous laser ablation, foam sclerotherapy, microsclerotherapy and non-injectable treatment of facial veins. He has significant experience in the treatment of veins on the face, chest, hands, feet and in the management of pelvic venous disorders.

Vanessa LIVINGSTONE

Lead Nurse and Director of Clinical Services at UK Vein Clinic

Vanessa previously worked at St Thomas’ Hospital as a Venous Clinical Nurse Specialist and the Venous Lead for the department. With skills in advanced assessment, Vanessa is an independent nurse prescriber and leads the UK Vein Clinic nursing team. With over 10 years experience in treating varicose veins, Vanessa looks forward to helping each patient in their journey to access world-class treatment that improves their quality of life.

Catharine McGUINNESS

Consultant Vascular Surgeon and Phlebologist

Miss McGuinness works in Guildford. She qualified from St George’s in 1987. She was appointed a Senior Lecturer and Consultant at St Thomas’ Hospital in 1999 and Consultant Vascular Surgeon at The Royal Surrey County Hospital in 2004.

She has been an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons in the UK and overseas, a Director of many teaching courses for consultants and is a proctor for laser companies.

She offers one-stop clinic appointments where appropriate, so that patients can be seen, have a vascular scan and then results discussed in one sitting.

Zola MZIMBA

Veins North West

Zola Mzimba is a Consultant Surgeon based in Derry Northern Ireland.

He spent the majority of his undergraduate and postgraduate training in the West Midlands along with time spent in South Africa and Northern Ireland. Post CCST he returned to Northern Ireland. Appointed as a vascular surgeon after reconfiguration of vascular services he dropped his Arterial practice to concentrate solely of venous and access work.

He led the development of regional venous services in NI concentrating varicose vein procedures in 2 high volume centres.

Zola Mzimba sits on the board of the British Association of Sclerotherapist as well as being a Council Member of the Venous Forum.

Sanjay PATEL

Guys and St Thomas NHS Trust; UK Vein Clinic

Consultant Vascular and Endovascular Surgeon.

He graduated from the University of Manchester Medical School in 2001, and trained in Manchester and Nottingham before undertaking a period of research for which he was awarded an MD(Res) by King’s College London.

Sanjay went onto complete higher surgical training specialising in Vascular and Endovascular (minimally invasive) surgery. He became a Fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of England (FRCS) in 2014. He then undertook a specialist Lower Limb Fellowship at the prestigious Guy’s and St Thomas’ Hospital where he acquired specific skills in the treatment of blood vessels using minimally invasive techniques.

He was appointed as Consultant Vascular and Endovascular surgeon at Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust in 2014. He is currently Lead for Education and Training.

Mike WATKINS

Mike has worked in the medical industry since graduating from Reading with a degree in Biology and PhD in Biomechanics. His first job was in Melbourne, Australia developing and marketing a biosynthetic vascular graft called Omniflow. In the UK he has been involved in the marketing, management and new product development of wound care, infection control and stoma care products at Seton-Scholl and Hollister. One project was the development and launch of the first foam dressing to contain silver which helped speed the healing of chronic wounds.

Mike has been the product manager for Fibrovein since 2003 which required developing an in-depth knowledge of the mechanism of action of sclerosants, treatment regimes and pharmaco-legal issues. He was very involved in getting the use Fibrovein as a foam added to the license in 2012 and has been invited to speak at conferences around the world about foam and other aspects of sclerotherapy.

Robin WINDHABER

Veincare Cornwall and Ramsay Duchy Hospital

Rob is a Consultant Vascular Surgeon and Full Time private vein specialist from Cornwall.

He undertook his undergraduate medical training in Cardiff, an MSc in Trinity College, Oxford and his MD in Bristol. He undertook his surgical and vascular training in the South West in the Wessex Deanery before becoming a consultant in Dorchester and Bournemouth in 2011.

In addition to his NHS post Rob worked with Dr Gajraj at the Melbury clinic from 2012-2013.

Rob was asked to set up a vascular service from scratch in the Cayman Islands which he did from 2013-2017 before returning to the UK.

Rob worked as a vascular surgeon in Cornwall from 2017-2022 before leaving the NHS and he has worked exclusively as a private vein specialist since 2022.
